New Delhi, [India] October 27, 2026: As Lovely Professional University (LPU) marks 25 years of its journey in education, its focus is increasingly shifting towards a question that is gaining relevance across higher education: how can learning translate into skills, innovation and real-world outcomes. The university’s Edu-Revolution initiative reflects this shift by bringing together experiential learning, research, entrepreneurship, industry exposure and technology as part of the student learning journey.
The approach moves beyond the conventional classroom-and-examination model by giving students opportunities to work on live projects, undertake internships and consultancy assignments, pursue industry certifications, participate in hackathons and develop their own ventures. LPU’s Edu-Revolution platform currently reports that students have earned more than ₹25 crore through entrepreneurship, live projects, consultancy and internships, while more than 25,000 students have replaced conventional classroom courses with MOOCs, industry projects and hackathons. The platform also records 450+ student-led start-ups.
A visible part of this ecosystem is the growing emphasis on student research and innovation. Projects emerging from LPU have included a solar-powered car, an aerodynamic human-powered vehicle and the Flying Farmer, a wireless sensor-based device designed for agricultural and forest surveys. Students have also worked on areas including drones, robotics, healthcare technology and other technology-led solutions, giving research and project work a more practical dimension.
The university’s entrepreneurship ecosystem has developed alongside this focus. Student-led ventures such as The Applicable, Astra Drones, K5Brain, Chickelz and Sondrah have emerged through the university’s innovation ecosystem. At the 2026 Indian Entrepreneurship Conclave hosted at LPU, more than 30 startups pitched their ideas and over 35 emerging ventures participated in the startup expo, providing students with opportunities to interact with investors, mentors, and entrepreneurs.
Another element of the model under Edu-Revolution is “Earn Your Fee Back”, through which students can earn while pursuing their degrees through avenues such as live projects, internships, consultancy, research and entrepreneurship. The underlying idea is to connect academic learning with demonstrable work and professional experience rather than treating these as activities that begin only after graduation.
The emphasis also extends to research. LPU’s recent academic and research activity has included work across areas such as artificial intelligence, agriculture, engineering, healthcare and emerging technologies, alongside a growing intellectual property and research portfolio. The university reported 33,390 research publications, 40,3240 citations, 200 H-Index, and more than 10,000 intellectual property filings to date.
As LPU enters its Silver Jubilee year, the 25-year milestone therefore also provides a point to look at how its approach to education has evolved from degree-focused learning towards an ecosystem where research, innovation, entrepreneurship, industry exposure, AI-enabled learning and real-world projects form an increasingly important part of the student experience.
The larger proposition behind Edu-Revolution is that a university experience can be measured not only by what students learn, but also by what they are able to build, research, solve, and contribute while they are still studying.
